Even during the war, while witnessing history, rooted in tradition, the enduring spirit of resilience and commitment to education was proudly displayed at this year’s convocation at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.   For security reasons, the convocation ceremonies took place for each school and department separately during two days. 

At the invitation of Mathias Möschel, Dean of the Department of Legal Studies at Central European University (Vienna, Austria), Volodymyr Venher, dean of the Law Faculty at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA), delivered a public lecture titled “Rule of Lawin Wartime.”

As I write this greeting, Kyiv has been deluged by missiles. The air is filled with smoke. But our KMA is standing proudly just a block from the Dnipro River, and our people at the university are proudly returning to their campus and continuing their work. We salute them for their courage, perseverance, patriotism and human values.

On May 4, 2025, a major event to honor the 410th anniversary of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy was held at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Chicago. Academics, diplomats, philanthropists, alumni, and friends gathered to honor the university and its historic role in preparing leaders for the nation.
