MISSION AND VISION OF KMFA

Our Mission and Vision

The Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation of America (KMFA) is a U.S. nonprofit dedicated to supporting the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA). We believe that education is the foundation for a free and thriving society. Our mission is to connect people in the United States and Ukraine through programs that support learning, leadership, and civic responsibility. Education builds nations. Together, we help Ukraine grow through knowledge and opportunity.

We believe in a free, educated, and innovative Ukraine — a nation built on knowledge, integrity, and opportunity for all.

Statement from the President

As Ukraine continues to face extraordinary challenges brought by Russia’s ongoing war of aggression, the spirit of the Ukrainian people remains unbroken. Every day, we witness acts of courage, resilience, and determination — from soldiers defending freedom on the frontlines to students and educators rebuilding the intellectual and moral foundations of the nation.

At the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation of America (KMFA), we stand firmly with our partners at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) as they continue their mission under the most difficult circumstances. The university — a symbol of independent thought and civic responsibility — remains a vital force in nurturing the next generation of Ukrainian leaders, innovators, and reformers.

Despite blackouts, displacement, and loss, NaUKMA students and faculty have not stopped teaching, learning, researching, and serving their communities. Through your support, the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation has been able to provide:

  • Scholarships and emergency assistance for students and faculty affected by the war

  • Support for academic programs that strengthen democratic governance, public policy, and civil society

  • Investment in digital infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted education and research

  • Partnerships that connect Ukrainian scholars and students with institutions around the world

These efforts are more than humanitarian; they are strategic. Education is Ukraine’s strongest line of defense for the future — ensuring that when peace comes, it will be sustained by leaders equipped with knowledge, integrity, and vision.

We invite you to continue standing with us. Your contributions to the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation directly strengthen Ukraine’s capacity to rebuild, reform, and lead. Together, we are investing not only in the survival of a university, but in the survival of the values that define Ukraine — freedom, dignity, and the pursuit of truth.

With gratitude and hope,

Marta Farion
