March 2025
Greeting from the President:
Dear Friends and Supporters,
This year, we celebrate the 410th anniversary of Kyiv Mohyla Academy. We invite you to join us in this celebration on Sunday, May 4th, at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Chicago, or virtually through a video that we will share.
For 410 years, National University Kyiv Mohyla Academy has upheld and continued its historic mission, preparing leaders who strengthen and protect Ukraine’s independence. These individuals are committed to upholding the rule of law, respecting human dignity, and leading with an international perspective. They are driving innovation, reconstruction, and contributing to healing the wounds of war. In this time of global turmoil, with Ukraine at the heart of the world’s attention, the nation seeks peace—peace with justice and security.
Ukraine defends its independence every day while confronting complex challenges. A new generation of educated leaders is emerging across governance, the military, business, culture, and society. These leaders have not been broken by the strain of war and will be at the forefront of rebuilding a post-war Ukraine. Kyiv Mohyla Academy is proud of its alumni who stand at the leading edge of this effort, as well as its exceptional students and faculty.
It is an honor to share some of the many programs and initiatives undertaken by Kyiv Mohyla Academy over the past two months. These efforts, along with many others, would not be possible without your continued support and understanding. Thank you for your unwavering trust and commitment.
Sincerely,
Marta Farion

Executive director Maria Klimchak visits KMA Veterans and Leadership Programs
On the eve of the third anniversary of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation of America delegated its executive director, Maria Klimchak, to visit Kyiv Mohyla Academy in Kyiv, to reaffirm the voice of the diaspora in support of Ukraine and NaUKMA, and to follow up on programs supported by donors to the Foundation.
A week of intensive programming facilitated meetings with administration, faculty and students, to see how the scholarships that donors provided had an impact on students. The Foundation raised $42,000 for the program “Individual Leadership Trajectory” that supports children of fallen Ukrainian Defenders and those affected by the war. Students shared their motivations for applying, their expectations and impressions, and the emotions they felt upon receiving the acceptance letters.
Dr. Tetyana Nagorniak, dean of the Kyiv-Mohyla School of Professional and Continuing Education, and Dr. Denys Azarov, first vice president of the university and former dean of the law school, firmly believe that "Going to university just for knowledge is not enough; one should go for a broader worldview." This is precisely why Mohylianka nurtures future leaders.
Please help Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation, USA continue its mission
Maria Klimchak meets with men and women Veterans at the Ukrainian Defenders Leadership Center
KMFoundation also proudly supports the Ukrainian Defenders’ Leadership Center. Ms. Klimchak presented a check in the amount of $40,000 to NaUKMA president Dr. Serhiy Kvit and the Center’s Leadership Program director, Yana Chapailo for the Center’s activities. These funds are a crucial asset for educational programs for veterans, specifically for the spring enrollment for the flagship certificate program "Leadership and Resilience." Ms. Klimchak had an opportunity meet with the men and women veterans enrolled in the program.
Thanks to our donors, together, we are building Ukraine’s future! Our collaboration inspires us to enhance our efforts, expand opportunities for veterans, and strengthen the academic community.
