for Education and Mental Rehabilitation
Dear Friends,
Thank you for being part of this event! We deeply appreciate all our sponsors and contributors.
On January 14, the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Foundation in America (KMFA) hosted a charity concert at City Winery Chicago to support the Veterans Leadership Center for Education and Mental Rehabilitation.
The evening featured an inspiring lineup of performers, including renowned American jazz diva Lynn Jordan with her band The Shivers, Ukrainian vocal group Trioda, model school founder Kateryna Hrod, and event MC Violanta Levis, who united the audience with messages of hope, resilience, and generosity.
The event was a resounding success and the audience joined in the excitement of the performances.
Marta Farion, President of KMFA, warmly welcomed guests and spoke about the enduring achievements of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. She emphasized KMA’s pivotal role in fostering education, leadership, and innovation in Ukraine and highlighted how the university continues to shape the country’s future. Farion thanked sponsors and benefactors, underlining the importance of supporting veterans, who have the potential to become leaders and agents of change through programs at KMA.

The Leadership Center for Ukraine’s Defenders, launched in September 2023, offers free programs for veterans, thanks to KMFA’s efforts. Special guest Sergiy Kyslytsya, Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN, attended the concert during his visit to Chicago. Addressing the audience, he described KMA as not only a cornerstone of Ukraine’s history but also a symbol of its path forward, asserting, "Without education, there will be no successful Ukraine."
Lynn Jordan, a long-time friend of Ukraine, shared her deep connection to the country, dedicating her performance to Ukrainian veterans, including those receiving treatment through organizations like the Protez Foundation and Revived Soldiers Ukraine. The evening opened with Trioda’s soulful rendition of the traditional Ukrainian Shchedryk, and the “Swallows of Victory” from Kateryna Hrod’s modeling school added a special touch, distributing materials about the veterans’ center and presenting Lynn Jordan with a Ukrainian wreath crafted by artist Lyubov Lukashevych. Moved by the gesture, Lynn performed wearing the wreath, captivating the audience with her jazz, blues, and soul hits.
The event was a celebration of kindness, unity, and the indomitable spirit of Ukrainian culture.
The Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Ukrainian community for its unwavering support of Mohylianka. Together, we create miracles, uplift those who defend Ukraine, and ensure a brighter future for the country.
