Taisa Markus

Taisa Markus is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Illinois College of Law - Urbana Champaign and a Visiting Professor at Kyiv Mohyla Faculty of Law.  Previously, she worked in private practice for 35 years focusing on finance and capital markets transactions in emerging markets before retiring from White & Case LLP in 2021.  Taisa was recognized as a leading lawyer by Chambers USA, Chambers Latin America, Legal 500 and Latinvex for over 15 years.  At UIUC, Taisa teaches law school courses on doing business in emerging markets and on geopolitical conflict and at Kyiv Mohyla, she supports the business law curriculum and the legal English program.  Since the full scale invasion, as a Ukrainian American, she actively volunteers to support Ukraine including through board service for the Ukrainian Institute of America and the Vance Center for International Justice.
